Mandate of the Division
- Manpower development: Training Programme on Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) for Filaria Inspectors/Technicians (Ten days) & Medical Officers/Biologists (Five days).
- Operational Research to support National Programme of Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis.
- Support to Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
- Outbreak investigation of various communicable diseases in the state of Uttar Pradesh and other states as per the directions of NCDC HQ.
- Services to Public Health: Weekly Night and Day Filaria clinic and Lymphoedema Management Clinic. Night Blood Smear examination for detection of asymptomatic microfilariae (mf) carriers in rural/urban areas.
- Entomological surveillance for prevention and control of vector borne diseases.
- Support to state government of Uttar Pradesh in COVID-19 screening and contact tracing of International passengers at LBSI Airport, Varanasi.
- To act as Nodal Officer for YEP surveillance in Sonbhadra & Mirzapur Districts of U.P.
Details of projects/programmes/research activities
- Collaboration with BHU faculties for Research activities in the field of Lymphatic Filariasis.
- Research projects:
A. Completed: 1. Assessment of prevalence and intensity of Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) among pregnant women and school children.
B. Scientific publications:
- “Lymphatic Filarial Serum Proteome Profiling for identification and characterization of Diagnostic Biomarkers” accepted for publication in PLOS ONE (in press) (NCBI PubMed indexed, Impact Factor 3.24).
