Broad objectives
  • To study clinical progression of disease in both the groups
  • To study the immunological project by Absolute CD4 T-lymphocyte count in both the groups
  • To study the virological response in both groups by HIV viral load assay
  • To study biochemical, hematological and radiological changes in both groups

Broad objectives
  • To study genetic diversity within Indian HIV 1 strains based on env, gag & nef genes.
  • Cloning and full length genome sequencing of prevalent and recombinant strains.

RP.3 Molecular Characterization of drug resistance genes of HIV-1 type

Broad objectives

To study genetic diversity within the drug resistant strains of HIV-1 type C using Protease & Integrate genes. Genetic information will help in understanding of molecular epidemiology of drug resistant strain of HIV-1 type C in India.

 
RP.4 Molecular characterization of Dengue virus Type-2 isolates in the Pre-M, M and Env/NS1 gene of region of the virus isolates from Dengue HF outbreaks and field collected mosquitoes
Broad objectives
  • Referred and suspected cases of HBV and HCV from different hospitals of Delhi and adjoining areas were confirmed by molecular diagnostic test (PCR/RT-PCR)targeting surface gene, core gene and 5’UTR gene region.
  • Genotyping of HBV by sequencing of HBsAg core gene and HCV by 5’UTR gene region to know the prevalence of HBV and HCV subtype in India.
  • To know the mode of transmission of these subtypes, and their relatedness with chronicity, drug addiction, carrier state etc.

Broad objectives
  • To confirm the dengue out-break from suspected clinical samples with the help of molecular diagnostic test (PCR/RT-PCR).

  • To study the genetic variation in dengue virus.
  • Molecular screening of dengue virus in mosquitoes collected from field for early warning signals.
 
RP.6 DNA sequence homology of pla and f1 genes of Yersinia pestis during outbreak

Broad objectives

  • Carry out molecular diagnosis for confirmation of Yersinia pestis based on specific pla and f1 gene at the time of any eventuality of suspected outbreak.
  • To carry out the molecular characterization and genotyping of Yersinia pestis by gene sequencing and DNA homology.

  • To establish the different genes for drug resistance pattern on the basis of gene mutation and sequencing.
  • Expression of acrA gene of salmonella typhi was characterized in about 20 isolates with reference to ciprofloxacin resistant.
 
RP.9 Monitoring of thyroid hormones in sera from suspected cases under NIDDCP
Broad objectives
  • To estimate the thyroid hormone levels (Free T3, Free T4 & TSH) in blood sample of suspected cases referred from Govt. hospitals and dispensaries.
  • To asses the trend of hyper and hypothyroidism in the tested samples.
  • To monitor the thyroid hormone levels in patients on thyroid drug therapy.
 
RP.10 Monitoring of Iodine levels in urine and salt samples under NIDDCP
Broad objectives
  • Being recognized as one of the National Reference Laboratory for Monitoring of IDD Programme in the country, the laboratory is providing all technical laboratory support to NIDDCP programme.
  • To estimate the iodine content in salt and urinary iodine excretion level in the urine samples collected during surveys.
  • Imparts training to Programme Officers and Technical Staff engaged in the programme at different States/UTs for manpower development.
